Conte Leopardi Winery

Conte Leopardi is a family owned business being handed down father to son for generations. This estate is owned by the Leopardi Dittajuti family.  The Leopardi family has been located in Marche, Italy dating back to the fifth century with the appointment from the Vatican for Leopardo Leopardi to take the position of Bishop of the now town Osimo. Leopardo was later killed and made a saint.  Today, Count Piervittorio Leopardi Dittajuti is the owner and coordinator of the company. He joined his father in the 80’s to manage the company and completely makeover the winery. The winery is located in Le Marche region, specifically in the Conero Riviera and Natural Park, surrounded by both hills and sea.  The soil is rich in limestone and marl giving an advantage to creating the best quality grapes.  In addition, with modern machinery and stainless steel equipment, the best quality wines are produced.  

Viticultural Details

This winery has the advatange of being located between the sea and the hills. The soil is rich in limestone and marl giving an advantage to creating the best quality grapes.  The climate is typically Mediterranean enduring the influence of the sea and frequent breezes.  The temperature fluctuates greatly between the start and end of the day.  In addition, with modern machinery and stainless steel equipment, the best quality wines are produced.  

 

Calcare Sauvignon

Vinification and Maturation

This wine is 100% Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes are harvested in the second half of September, with careful selection of the grapes. Once harvested the grapes are immediately cooled with dry ice.  Once they are de-stemmed the skins undergo maceration for a few hours.  After the grapes are pressed, the juice is fermented for 10 minutes at a controlled temperature with selected yeasts.  After a few months of aging in stainless steel containers, the wine is bottled.

Color: golden yellow

Bouquet: elegant, dry white wine with ripe nuances of pineapple, citrus and passion fruit

Flavor: full-bodied, freshness and fruitiness

Serving Suggestions: seafood, cheese pastas, mature cheeses, sushi 

 

Villa Marina Rosso Conero DOC

Vinification and Maturation

This wine is 100% Montepulciano. After harvest, the grapes are de-stemmed and gently rushed. Fermentation takes place with selected yeasts at controlled temperatures. The maceration process takes place over 15-20 days. After malolactic fermentation the wine is aged in barrels for 12 months.  The wine is then bottled and aged for another two months.

Tasting Notes

Color: ruby with purple tones

Bouquet: elegant with aromas of wild cherry, plum jam and red berries.

Flavor: textured and well balanced  

Serving Suggestions: cold cuts and traditional pasta dishes, also red meats.  

 

 

 

Casirano Rosso Conero DOC

Vinification and Maturation

This wine is 85% Montepulciano, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 8% Syrah. The grapes are harvested in the first two weeks of October. The three varieties are harvested separately, by hand when they are fully ripe.  Once picked they are placed in small boxes.  The fermentation process then begins. They are fermented at a controlled temperature.  The maceration of the skins last 20 days.  After this process, the wine is aged in French barriques for a year.  After it ages, the wine is bottled and then aged in a cellar for another 10 months.

Tasting Notes

Color: Dark ruby red

Bouquet: velvety, with notes of wild cherry, raspberry and scice.  With finishing taste of blueberry, black plum ham, and pepper

Flavor: powerful, fruity and full-bodied

Serving Suggestions: dishes with spicy flavors, traditional roasts, braised meats.  Along with roasted vegetables and cheese flavored with herbs.
